About

MeI am  the Digital Technology Outreach Specialist for the Minnesota Historical Society working on (among other things) the legacy grant program, outreach to local historical societies providing technology advice and resources and I maintain the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Grants program, the Minnesota State Historic Office of Preservation and Local History Services social media presence on Facebook, LinkedIn and Flickr. In my past life, I was a community organizer for different neighborhood associations in Saint Paul, Minnesota, a web and interactive worker bee for an assortment of companies and agencies, as well as a nationality syndicated political cartoonist on GLBT issues.

I do not profess to be a “Guru” on the subject of online marketing and social media for museums and preservation organizations but it seems to be a timely and needed subject to start a dialog on. Much of this blog is an attempt for me to write down what I am thoughts about this topic. If you learn something new, good for you, if not, write a comment on what you know and teach me something new.

The opinions here are mine and not necessarily the opinions of the Minnesota Historical Society. So there.
